How To Find the Best Smartwatch Black Friday Dumbbell Deals
If you’re on the hunt for the best Black Friday smartwatch deals, here are a few things to keep in mind based on our years of experience rounding up the best deals on fitness gear:
Check Out Our Best Smartwatch Reviews
We’ve tested several of the best fitness trackers and smartwatches using our custom fitness equipment testing methodologies. For wearable fitness tech, that includes:
- Tech capabilities: What health metrics can you track and how much programming is available to you? Is there an accompanying app? Can you sync the watch with your iPhone or Android phone?
- Durability: Can the watch withstand the elements like water—e.g., does it have a waterproof rating? Will the watch face scratch easily?
- Aesthetics: What is the size and shape of the watch face? What colors are available and can you customize the bezel or band? What kind of screen does the watch have, and is it easy to read like an AMOLED?
- Adjustability: How well does the band adjust for people with larger or smaller wrists?
We’ve reviewed an armful of watches and trackers based on these criteria, so be sure to check out our honest reviews of several of the brands we’ve featured on this page and come comparisons if you’re waffling between options and want to determine your best buy:

Know What You’re Looking For
What sort of fitness tracking functionality are you hoping to get from your smartwatch (if any)? Are you looking for specific sports and activity tracking? Maybe you—or the person you’re buying for—are interested in sleep tracking or keeping an eye on your mental health and wellness.
While a lot of these smartwatches have a set of basic metrics such as daily steps and heart rate monitoring, you may be looking for a watch with a GPS system that can chart your golf game or one with high water resistance that tracks your laps in the pool. You may also be interested in a smartwatch with Bluetooth that can connect to Wi-Fi and send you your notifications while you’re training.

Also, consider whether your new watch has app connectivity. If this is a “New Year, New You” present, there are built-in communities you can join such as the Garmin Connect App, Apple Fitness+, or the Fitbit Community that let you interact with other fit folks and participate in challenges. Studies have even shown1 that fitness technology, like built-in apps, can help increase motivation to accomplish your goals.
Last but not least is battery life. The Garmin vivoactive 5 smartwatch boasts an 11-day battery life while the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic may only provide up to 40 hours. Granted, the Galaxy Watch also has fast-charging capabilities, but if you want to have to charge your smartwatch less often than your smartphone, battery life should be considered.
